Accrued Revenue
What is accrued revenue?
Accrued revenue is money your company has earned by delivering a service or product, but you haven’t billed or collected cash for yet.
In simple terms, it represents work you’ve already done that hasn’t hit your bank account.
For example, if a customer uses your platform for a full month on a post paid billing plan, you accrue that revenue day by day even though you don’t send the invoice until the end of the month.
How accrued revenue affects subscription models
Subscription businesses rely on accrual accounting to match revenue with the exact period you provide a service. This gives you an accurate view of your actual earnings each month, even if cash payments arrive later.
Tracking accrued revenue helps you spot financial trends early, keep your financial reporting clean, and ensure your team measures true growth rather than just temporary cash inflows.
